About The Role

Working alongside the Food Development and Butchery teams to highlight areas of vulnerability and opportunity in meat procurement, processing, butchery.  To provide accurate product costs and controls required from carcass to shelf for maximum yield, quality and value.
The job role involves 
  • Creation and analysis of butchery accounts and other financial reporting models as necessary to provide full visibility of product costs, production costs, product sales, margins and stock
  • Managing the butchery stock take compiling and analysing the results as appropriate
  • Managing butchery cost control procedures to ensure that, where possible, optimum buying prices are obtained
  • Check and process group butchery transactions, including internal transfers, external sales, and purchase invoices
  • Providing insight on livestock issues affecting meat yield and quality
  • Involvement in food safety administration, documentation and records
This is a full time role in our head office currently based at Tebay but will be relocating to Penrith in Summer 2020.

About You

Essential skills and experience required:

  • Previous experience of working in an accounting role or demonstrable accountancy experience 
  • Experience of working in either a manufacturing or farming environment and good working knowledge of these industries. 
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to recognise and assist in the management of time bound products
  • Strong administration and analytical skills with the ability to express information verbally and in written word/graphically

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Previous experience working in an accounting role within the meat/butchery industry
  • Livestock knowledge
  • Broad butchery and/or meat knowledge
  • Understanding of a product buying role
